Reverend David Greer was born near Stewartstown, County Tyrone, Ireland. He is the son of James Greer 1775 and mother
unknown. He had a brother John and a sister Nancy born 1799, died 21 Jan 1889

The connection between my James Greer and David's father has not been established, however, through letters to my Great
Grandfather William Harkness Greer it was determined that they are cousins, possibly first cousins.

Rev. David Greer was ordained at Mountmellick by the Presbytery of Athone. Mr. Greer received a call to the Mariners' Church,
Belfast and resigned his charge of Mountmellick on the 7th August 1849. After some years he passed into the United States and
settled at Dickinson, Pennsylvania near to which was fought the battle of Gettysburg. After that terrible battle his church was for
some weeks turned into a hospital. He then returned to Ireland in 1864 and served 20 years at Cavanaleck before his death 17 May
